The Tuskegee airmen were simply a group of pilots that revolutionized America. Via revolutionary help from the NAACP, black men were able to fly in the Military. This not only broke down color barriers, but it showed white Americans that blacks were as capable as whites when it came to serving our country. Many people reacted in complete and utter shock that blacks were able to fly. Others reacted with complete opposition and tried to put an end to the experiment by saying they hadn't acquired enough kills. This was simply because airmen hadn't had the opportunity to face any enemy fighters because of their missions involved ground attacks. The Tuskegee Airmen's missions were reformed and were later assigned as bomber escorts. This is where the true talent of the airmen showed. Countless kills and minimal casualties could describe almost every mission flown.
These young and brave men will go down in history as the men who not only were the first black men to fly for or country, but the ones who broke down the racial barriers for future black soldiers. Currently there are 425,000 colored people in the military. Without the Tuskegee Airmen these brave men wouldn't be able to serve our country. Indirectly these airmen lead to the civil rights era of Martin Luther King, Rosa Park, and countless others. They all looked to these heroes as pinnacles of change in world of separation and corruption.
